Open call

Mitologie Digitali is an artistic exchange imagined in a peculiar moment of global change and uncertainty. The geopolitical and technological domains, perceived by many as subject to a fast and unpredictable development are carrying a sense of anxiety and helplessness to humanity. Mitologie Digitali is an invitation to assimilate change as a healing process and a way to proactively look out for agency.

The theme of the exhibition is digital mythologies, a work where digital technology and human archetypes interact in order to recognize each other, to understand humanity and to understand progress.

Analyzing phenomena such as contemporary mythopoiesis – that is the formation of new mythologies and, by extension, how they transform, act and what they produce – is central and urgent in addressing issues related to the dimensions of politics, society, economy, identity, imagination, memory, history, beliefs.

For millennia, from East to West, from ancient China to ancient Greece, myths, legends, fables, fairy tales and superstition have always reflected the present time of the peoples that gave rise to them.

On the occasion of the third edition of the SETA Festival, Contemporary Matters opens a call for artists aimed at the realization of two exhibitions of digital art that will be held simultaneously in Italy and China, respectively in the cities of Prato and Taizhou. Submissions of original works of multimedia art will be welcomed from August 22 till October 20, 2022.

The Mitologie Digitali exhibition will be held from November 27 – December 27, 2022 at the Taizhou Contemporary Art Museum in China and in the city of Prato, with a multi-venue exhibition, in Italy.
